Discuss the best ways to make it as a direct, independent examiner.

The IMC "Gospel"

There has been a great deal of discussion in this industry about the Independent Medical Company (IMC)—the contractor that is not beholden to any corporate office. Right now, the billing revenues from those companies are near $90 million in the US alone. Clearly, this is why Portamedic, EMSI and others are so interested in tapping into that revenue source.

Some local providers and even individual examiners are also “tapping” into that network, but for a more grassroots reason of developing a cohesive, synergistic network between these providers. For visionaries such as the creator of the NAPEA, there is a goal of a 5th major medical company that is really a collection of independent offices working together to be competitive on a national level.

Unfortunately, creating a professional networking site where examiners can exchange ideas without giving these professionals a way to make money through the interaction is extremely difficult. Most independent offices have little incentive to assist and network with would-be competitors, especially ones that are local to them.

The way around this is to have an independent company develop a professional networking system that is also a full company management solution. This allows companies to get to know one another through synergistic business relationships. It also creates an “association” through that synergy and is driven by the added ability offices have to track exams that are sent to other independent offices rather then giving information and control away to a national competitor such as ExamOne.

The goals of NAPEA are to help independents earn more money and gain more control over their destiny. A cohesive network of independent offices can do just that, because they have the volume to force changes through the companies that control the top-level contracts. You may not be able to write a letter to New York Life and have them change their policies, but if you are collectively sending 20,000 exams a month through Portamedic Direct, for example, their leadership will certainly listen to what you have to say and move for change whenever possible.

Truly then, what is needed is a professional networking and exam management system developed by an independent company. To be truly independent, the system should allow companies to bill to any other company or companies they choose and provide tools to track that billing centrally. It should allow companies to keep track of their own clients, examiners, etc. privately, while also being able to share information public ally if they choose—such as transferring a case to another office or allowing other offices to work with your examiner if your examiner is looking for more business then you can provide to him or her.

Sound like a pipe dream? It WAS. Now, however, after years of planning and development and a some heavy investments in dollars and time, this is a reality. That reality is MediPro Direct. It is SO much more then just an exam tracking system. With more then 3,500 examiners and hundreds of medical companies already involved in this independent network, MediPro is now working to improve the complex process of tracking billing when exams are being billed to multiple providers.

To help with this project, MediPro Direct is searching for beta testers. We want honest, direct business owners who have been in the industry at least 1 year and have been billing direct business for at least 6 months. This project does NOT require you to bill through any particular channel, which means you can continue to bill wherever you are billing; it simply requires you to be part of occasional phone and email discussions about the best ways to create and track your invoices.

Those interested in becoming a beta tester receive a slightly modified MediPro Direct system at little or no cost during the 6-month beta period. Imagine becoming a national medical company overnight, with your own website, competitive tracking tools, and improved exam accounting. Contact Ryan at ryanj@mediprodirect.com for more information. We will only accept up to 2 offices from each state, and some states are already full, including Oregon and Utah, so please contact us right away.

We look forward to speaking with you and having you help make a real difference in this industry and your company!

A few people have inquired regarding beta testing the MediPro Direct software. At this point, the beta program is over and we are well into the full version of the software. With more than 1200 medical company users nationally, we are the most widely utilized and competitive software to the Big 4 management systems, in the paramedical exam industry. We constantly get feedback from existing users about how the software has helped them land large clients and grow their businesses at an accelerated pace. Our software is more than just a management tool, it is a company online, which means you pick a URL and we connect the system to your website or provide a template site at no additional cost. Your customers go to your website and login to order and track exams online. You can customize auto email statuses, marketing programs, applicant feedback forms, and so much more.

Visit us at www.mediprodirect.com or call 877-268-1021 to learn more. While there may be less expensive solutions out there, this is one space where you certainly get what you pay for.
