Starting Again

Postby Niceguy » Mon Feb 06, 2012 5:52 pm

Hello
I am thinking of doing exams again on a limited basis

The reason I quit was a lot of work for just a little money and I am not a morning person

But I can do one or two exams a week in addition to my other work

I have two years as a lab assistant and about six months to a years doing insurance exams

I have done probably 5000 venipunctures ok maybe less but a lot

I also have my phlebotomy certificates but I am not current in California

What do I need to do to to do exams again?

Joining the Medical Alliance Network is a good place to start.
Many times a medical company will have an exam outside of their normal coverage area. In the past, they would either transfer the business to another medical company or simply decline the business. Either way, they lost revenue. The Medical Alliance Network allows these companies to accept these exams by finding mobile examiners in the client’s home area.
• The Alliance Network is free to examiners.
• You can choose to receive email alerts when exams are offered in your coverage area.
• You decide which exam offers you are interested in performing.
• There is no limit to the number of exams you can accept, or medical companies you can contract with.

If you decide to become a direct examiner in the future, MediPro Direct can help you establish and grow your presence in the market place.

Good Suggestion
I also need to get my phlebotomy cert again
California is more strict than other states
Where can I do that?

Thanks

I found the Laboratory Field Services Personnel Licensing and Certification site for certifications.

https://secure.cps.ca.gov/cltreg/pt_certinfo.asp

However, the following announcement is listed as well.

THIS WEBSITE IS FOR FIRST TIME APPLICANTS ONLY, NOT FOR RENEWALS. IF APPLYING FOR RENEWALS, PLEASE CONTACT THE STATE OFFICE - LABORATORY FIELD SERVICES DIRECTLY AT 510-620-3826 OR 510-620-5846.

I called Lab Field Services and got no response
I did get a response from this email address
Lynnea Rappee Lynnea.Rappe@cdph.ca.gov
I am not sure if these two people cover all of California or Just the San Francisco Bay Area
Anyway I need to do six hours of continuing education and fill out this form
http://www.cdph.ca.gov/pubsforms/forms/ ... lab177.pdf
and send in 100 dollars
